Position
We are currently looking for a new GIS Graduate, this professional role works within the geospatial team to provide all aspects of mapping, data management and spatial analysis to terrestrial, marine, freshwater and geospatial projects, always working proactively to achieve the company’s vision and values.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Creating Report maps with data collected by our ecology teams using Field Maps
* Performing simple geoprocessing tasks
* Identifying habitats within the work area from aerial imagery and digitise accurately within ArcGIS software according to the project specification and brief, ensuring attribute fields are populated with the correct information
* Being conscious of and able to meet habitat mapping targets/deadlines
* Regularly liaising with the rest of the project team to maximise efficiency and productivity
* Ensuring mapping progress is logged on the GIS internal planner board
* Contributing to additional basic mapping tasks as required, for example minor mapping changes, and approving/exporting maps to PDF format
At Thomson we support hybrid working arrangements, employees can work a mix of remote and office working. We have office locations in Guildford, Birmingham (Kenilworth), Leeds, Cardiff, Manchester and Ipswich.
Requirements
You will be a UK resident with the Right to work in the UK.
What we're looking for:
A Strong GIS Foundation: You’ll be a recent graduate with a degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field, with a passion for geospatial technology.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.), geospatial analysis, and map production. Experience with mobile mapping, remote sensing, or UAVs would be a plus!
Collaboration & Initiative: You’ll thrive in a team environment but also take ownership of your projects, eager to contribute ideas that add value.
