Borders General Hospital
Junior Tier Dr in Emergency Medicine
Full time / part time and job share applicants welcome.
Why work for us?
Patients are at the centre of everything we do in our daily working lives at NHS Borders, ensuring they are safe and cared for efficiently and effectively by suitably experienced and qualified staff driving quality at the heart of patient care. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team with a wealth of clinical and leadership experience. We aim for an open and honest culture and believe in nurturing future stars in NHS.
Are you a post FY2 doctor looking for ED experience or just not sure what specialty to choose? Are you looking for an opportunity to consolidate clinical exposure to a wide range of presentations and ages with protected time to fine-tune your CV for applications to specialty training?
Are you interested in working in an area of extreme beauty but close to Scotland’s capital? Then this is a good option for you.
The Borders General Hospital is recruiting for Clinical Development Fellows (CDFs) to start ASAP. The BGH is situated 30 miles south of Edinburgh in a picturesque location with access to world-famous mountain biking, lovely coastline, and hill walking to cater to all levels of fitness and interest. It has train access to Scotland’s capital and could be considered as a commuter post, though I would suggest living locally to enjoy all the benefits supplied by the local area.
The hospital sees over 33,000 patients a year and has 330 inpatient beds with access to General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Obs and Gyn, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Dermatology. We are a Trauma Unit feeding into the Major Trauma Centre located in ERI.
Successful candidates will be contracted for 48 hours – 40 clinical and 8 hours of protected development time. Part-time or full-time will be considered. The department is staffed with an enthusiastic and progressive team with a clear passion to support our recruits to develop their skills in areas that will benefit their future careers, while understanding that robust Emergency Medicine experience - both in assessing the unfiltered patient, performing procedures, and managing the uncertainty of medical decision-making - is an essential component that any clinician will find useful throughout their career, regardless of what specialty they decide to pursue.
