If so, wed love to hear from you Job description This role works within the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC) The Traffic Commissioners (TC) have responsibility for the licensing and regulation of Great Britain based operators of heavy and light goods vehicles involved in international transport, buses, and coaches (public service vehicles) and of those who drive them, the registration of local bus services, adjudication of appeals against the impounding of vehicles operated without a valid operators license and other functions. Working as part of a team of two managers, the post holder has responsibility for managing the delivery of the National Compliance Casework Team. The team has responsibility for the delivery of a high-quality service to traffic commissioners, within a framework set out by legislation, Statutory Guidance and Statutory Directions (Statutory Documents). The work of the team involves the compilation of case submissions to the traffic commissioners providing a factual reflection of an operators or drivers compliance. The team pull together evidence from multiple sources and make a considered recommendation to the traffic commissioner on the appropriate course of action based upon the legislation and Statutory Documents. The team is geographically dispersed across the eight offices comprising the Office of the Traffic Commissioner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing leadership and support to the National Compliance Casework team to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service to the traffic commissioners. Execute management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes, working with, leading, and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues in line with Civil Service values. Determine and plan their team requirements, including allocating resources and prioritising activities, over the short to medium term by fully understanding the business environment in which the team operates, the overall team objectives, ensuring their team fully understands and works to these requirements. Work closely with National Compliance team members to ensure seamless transition to Hearing Centre service for all cases requiring Public Inquiry (PI). Person specification We are looking for a experienced manager who can lead a geographically dispersed team, as well as interpret strategic plans and targets into operational processes. You must have great communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Allowing you to communicate and work with a range of senior stakeholders and use effective methods to keep these stakeholders engaged throughout. Your writing skills will be essential for writing submissions and briefings that are clear, well considered and logical, bringing clarity to complex topics. It is essential that you have experience in using and analysing data, from a range of credible sources, to inform decision making. Additional Information Whilst we accept applications for those looking for part time work, please note, that there will be a business requirement for successful candidates to work a minimum of 34 hours. This role can be based in Leeds, Birmingham, Eastbourne, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Bristol, Golborne, Caernarfon or Pontypridd.
