Full Stack Developer - BYG
Hybrid in London, UK
We’re looking for a full stack engineer
We're looking for a full stack engineer who’s ready to make a real impact by developing the tools that empower iwoca’s teams to serve our customers effectively. You'll help shape our technical strategy and work on high-impact projects like optimising our in-house CRM, custom-built phone system, and data-driven task management solutions.
The company
Fast, flexible finance empowers small businesses to manage their cash flow better and seize opportunities - making their business and the economy stronger as a whole. At iwoca, we do just that. We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes. We’ve already made several billion in funding available to more than 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe.
Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science, and a 5-star customer service.
The team
As the Full Stack Engineer, you will join the BYG team (Backyard Gardeners), who build and develop the tools that allow our operational teams to best serve iwoca's customers. Those tools include our own proprietary CRM software (called Eden) as well as the systems supporting calls (including our proprietary phone system), emails, and notifications. These systems are used by more than 200 people in the company who interact with our customers - such as sales, customer success, credit analysts, broker account managers, collections specialists.
The role
As a Full Stack Engineer in the team, you’ll help shape our technical strategy in collaboration with our Product and Operations Strategy teams, and enable 200+ iwoca operations staff to efficiently and accurately serve and support our customers.
The projects
You’ll be responsible for building on top of our successful in-house CRM to deliver robust, efficient targeted solutions across a range of exciting, impactful projects including:
1. Task Management enhancements: Our TM system helps ensure Operations Staffs carry out and prioritise the most valuable tasks to iwoca. You will help support this by working alongside our talented team of Data Scientists.
2. Phone system optimisation: Our custom-built phone system efficiently handles and supports over 6,000 calls each week. By having complete control over the lifecycle of a phone call and the data attached to it, we are able to offer many improvements over an out of the box solution.
3. Eden interface solutions: Eden is our CRM, developed with React and TypeScript, designed to support our operations team by managing key operational processes. You will leverage data visualisation and interact with many third party APIs to create impactful solutions using a modern tech stack.
The requirements
Essential
1. Extensive commercial experience in both frontend and backend development, ideally with React, TypeScript, and Python.
2. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and integration with backend services.
3. Strong skills in browser testing and debugging.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.
Bonus
1. Passionate about innovation, evolving technologies, and engineering best practices.
2. Experienced with Django.
3. Comfortable working in a dynamic and autonomous environment.
4. Driven to "get things done" and deliver high-quality solutions.
The salary
We expect to pay from £60,000 - £80,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
The culture
At iwoca, we prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value thought and skill diversity, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us innovate and improve our products and services.
