What will you be required to do? Appropriately organise Commissioning Teams and ensure key personnel are demonstrably competent to undertake their roles.
Organise and act as Chair for the Test and Commissioning Panel (T&CP) for their assigned projects.
Act as the Intelligent Customer providing an in-house capability being responsibility for the ownership, management and delivery of any commissioning services being provided by the implementation contractor.
Provide technical review of all commissioning documentation being processed through the T&CP within their discipline.
Represent commissioning at design review meetings and the production of commission ability reports for each stage of the design as required.
Write commissioning procedures or manage their content, production and approval via the T&CP
Review construction complete documentation to ensure that newly constructed systems are ready and safe for commissioning test activities to commence.
Ensure that commissioning activities follow the appropriate Project Delivery Map from design support through to handover to end user.
Ensure that sufficient tests are conducted and results are correlated to ensure that the system requirements have been validated.
Ensure commissioning test procedures are followed and signed off with full and accurate records of the test results
Ensure commissioning records are maintained to support project handover and systems lifecycle.
Witness site and offsite commissioning tests as required.
Production of Commissioning Strategy and Commissioning Reports for their assigned projects.
Be responsible for the professional development, performance and ethical standards of the staff within their responsibility and reporting chain.
Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates should be able to demonstrate: The Commissioning Manager shall hold an appropriate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline; Degree/ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent experience.
The Commissioning Manager shall have a proven track record and bring extensive knowledge and experience of the process of commissioning new plant in a multi-discipline, safety-critical and highly-regulated industry. Experience within the nuclear industry in particular would be desirable, but is not essential - we will also consider experience with other industries as well, process industry, oil & gas, power generation etc.
The Commissioning Manager shall lead the project team's thinking in creating a strategic vision for the commissioning phase, and to derive from this the tangible plans of action that will ensure that the commissioning phase is executed successfully.
The Commissioning Manager shall be able to effectively communicate and influence both internally and externally to AWE.
This includes the ability to express clearly the importance of early thinking about commissioning, and to build credibility and support for the commissioning process.
The Commissioning Manager shall be able to effectively impart their knowledge and experience onto the growing Commissioning team within AWE, to develop the team's overall capability.
Membership of an appropriate professional institute as an incorporated engineer with equivalent academic or vocational certification (Desirable).
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
