The post holder is responsible for managing the building and engineering staff of the York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) and for the maintenance of all properties and plant and ensuring all building service provision, in line with all relevant statutory legislation and guidance.
The role involves the line management and day to day supervision of staff, prioritising and organising the workload of the team; fault finding, operating estates systems; liaison with other departments across the wider Trust and keeping records up to date. There may be a requirement to participate in an Estates On-Call Rota.
Working with all stakeholders across both clinical and Estates & Facilities, Authorising Engineers and external contractors to ensure the building services with the York Hospital and surrounding Trust building are working, compliant and providing provision.
You will be able to liaise and provide effective communication at all levels and be able to meet with both staff and external staff. Records need to be both accurate, timely and quality training sessions need to be given.
You must have completed an accredited trade specific apprenticeship and at least another 2 years post apprenticeship training gathering specialist health service knowledge as many tasks are statutory such as Water Safety, LOLER, asbestos and many more.
You must be able to analyse complex reports / faults and a wide range of building services and be able to work independently but within statutory regulations and guidance, and as part of this you would be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of the Trusts / YTHFM assets and premises.
You will be responsible for the Trusts directly employed labour applications of policy and procedures and the day-to-day control and support of contractors. York workload will be your own to prioritise.
