Job Description: Optima Plus Recruitment is seeking to fulfil the role of Legal and Governance Manager for a valued client based in Rugby. This hybrid role offers flexibility, with one day a week required in the office on Mondays. The role is an immediate start, initially on a 3-month temporary basis, with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate. You will be supporting the Chief Officer – Legal & Governance in delivering the corporate vision, values, and strategic priorities of the organisation. You will act as an advisor and work collaboratively with senior management and other services, ensuring that services are aligned with the achievement of the organisation's strategic aims and objectives. Responsibilities: Provide expert legal and governance advice to the Chief Officer – Legal & Governance and senior management. Manage and lead a team of at least four professionals in areas such as planning, housing, or governance. Collaborate across the organisation to ensure services are effectively integrated and aligned with strategic priorities. Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures, maintaining high governance standards. Contribute to the development of the organisation’s strategic priorities, working alongside internal and external stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance governance, transparency, and accountability. Requirements: Significant managerial experience within local council governance, with a focus on planning, housing, or governance. A proven track record of managing a team of at least four people. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively with senior leaders and various departments. Experience in delivering results within a local council environment, ensuring the high quality of services and compliance with relevant regulations. A deep understanding of governance, legal frameworks, and risk management. Ability to adapt to a hybrid work model, with a commitment to working from the office on Mondays.
