Job summary We have an opportunity to work within Haematology Oncology Day Unit ( HODU) and Fareham Haematology Oncology Day Unit (FHODU). The service is spread across the 2 main sites QA hospital in Cosham and Fareham community hospital. The Unit provides Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies (SACT) to cancer patients that live in the South East region of Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. Main duties of the job This is an opportunity to develop a career in cancer care, to learn and develop skills such as cannulation, phlebotomy and Central Venous access Devices (CVADs ) To develop skills and expected training for SACT such as Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibody therapy and hormone therapy etc. We support patients with more chronic diseases as well such as myeloproliferative disorders and complex Haematological disorders such as hemochromatosis or polycythaemia, sickle cell anaemia to name a few. Staff will be expected to learn unique specialised care within HODU and to also to complete United Kingdom Oncology Nurses society (UKONs) SACT passport. Which it is an expectation that nurses complete the passport within 6 months of completion of the training day.
