Due to internal progression, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team within our Chartwells state school sector at Compass Group UK & Ireland. This role will be based at our head office in Birmingham with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week.
As an Assistant Finance Manager in Compass, you will perform an influential and high-profile role delivering financial and commercial support to the Chartwells business sector. Through effective business partnering, the role will continually improve service levels, cost-effectiveness, and add value to commercial activities undertaken.
More about the role:
You will provide commercial acumen to drive efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction in addition to:
* Business partnering - driving contractual performance and the understanding of key stakeholders (finance and non-finance)
* Provide commercial insight and analysis to the Account Director to support operational decision-making
* Manage and develop junior finance team members
* Identify areas of improvement in existing processes and lead in implementation to drive efficiencies
* Ownership of the financial results and reporting of performance including budgeting and forecasting processes
* Responsible for financial control and governance processes including contractual compliance and adherence to Compass financial policies
* Attend and present financial results and insight at client and internal meetings
Who you are:
* A Newly Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with varied experience in accounting roles
* Experience of business partnering senior stakeholders with the ability to challenge, influence, and persuade at all levels
* High numeric and analytical skills and attention to detail
* Comfortable developing and working with complex spreadsheets
* Demonstrable commercial finance experience of improving business results and adding value
* Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate oral and written information concisely and logically
* Ability to analyse, evaluate and present information in a clear and concise way
Desirable:
* Experience of operating within a multi-site, multi-contract organization
* Good working knowledge of SAP & Cognos
