Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to analyse various factors that influence project costs. The Estimator will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive estimates that support effective decision-making. The right candidate should have experience working on large M&E installation projects.
Duties
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and overhead associated with projects.
* Analyse project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and necessary resources.
* Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and ensure accuracy in estimates.
* Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying potential areas for cost control and savings.
* Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid documents and presenting estimates to clients.
* Maintain an organised database of past estimates for future reference and continuous improvement.
* Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques to enhance estimating accuracy.
Skills
* Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey estimates and collaborate with team members.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
* Knowledge of cost control principles is essential; experience in this area is highly desirable.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
