About The Role

Are you ready for your next role in a successful, progressive company with fantastic career development opportunities? We are looking for a Technical Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating technical operations within the Film & TV business. This role involves managing technical workflows, resources, and schedules to ensure successful execution of creative projects. The Technical Manager acts as a vital link between creative and technical teams, ensuring that production goals are met efficiently and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Oversight:
o Plan, implement, and manage technical workflows for on-set production, post-production, and delivery phases.
o Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions to meet project requirements.
o Ensure smooth operation of all technical systems, including audiovisual, IT, and production-specific technologies.
o Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues, implementing solutions quickly to minimize disruptions.
2. Team Management & Collaboration:
o Coordinate cross-functional technical teams, including editors, sound engineers, VFX specialists, and IT professionals.
o Act as the main liaison between creative teams, production staff, and technical departments to align on project objectives.
o Provide leadership and guidance to technical staff, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
3. Scheduling & Resource Allocation:
o Develop and manage detailed schedules for technical tasks and deliverables.
o Allocate technical resources effectively to meet production timelines and budgets.
o Anticipate project needs and ensure the availability of personnel, equipment, and support.
4. Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement:
o Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and coordinating equipment rentals.
o Communicate technical updates and requirements to internal stakeholders, maintaining transparency and alignment.
5. Compliance & Best Practices:
o Ensure adherence to industry standards, including data security, file formatting, and safety protocols.
o Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in film and TV production.

What can we offer you in return? You’ll be joining a highly successful FTSE100 company, the UK’s largest equipment rental provider. We provide an industry-leading flexible rewards package including generous holiday allowance (with the opportunity to buy and sell annual leave), life assurance, retail discount scheme, employee recognition awards, and a great company pension scheme. Other benefits will depend on your job role and may include company car and private medical insurance.

About You

If you join the team we’ll provide you with everything you need and ensure you are equipped for success. We’ll talk to you about your training and personal development needs and what you’d like to do to further your career and support your future aspirations.

To succeed as a Technical Manager you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:

* Strong organizational and time-management skills with a proven ability to manage complex schedules.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:

* Experience with VFX, color grading, or sound mixing workflows.
* Familiarity with cloud-based production tools and remote collaboration technologies.
* Certifications in relevant technical disciplines (e.g., Avid, Adobe, IT networking).

Key Competencies:

* Proactive and solutions-focused approach.
