Role Overview
As the Financial Controller & Company Secretary, you will report to the Directors and be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, while also managing corporate governance and secretarial duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare quarterly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
* Manage the annual audit process.
* Prepare monthly/quarterly cashflows.
* Liaise with tax advisors for the preparation of tax computations.
* Prepare quarterly forecasts for tax payments.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
* Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk.
* Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
* Prepare and file statutory returns and reports.
* Organize and manage board meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes.
* Provide advice on corporate governance and regulatory matters.
* Preparation of pension scheme accounts.
* Conduct new site appraisals with managing director.
* Provide information for refinancing and covenant compliance.
* Oversee annual health care and insurance renewals.
* Prepare and submit P11D forms to HMRC.
* Manage rents receivable, ensuring timely receipt and follow-up.
* Review and authorise purchase ledger payment runs and monthly payroll.
* Review CIS returns, bank reconciliations, and VAT returns.
* Supervision of the Office Manager/Financial Administrator.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
Experience:
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
* Experience in managing financial operations and corporate governance.
* Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA). QBE will be considered.
* Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Skills:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficient in financial software like Sage 50 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
