I am currently working with a sub-contract sheet metalworking business based in Rugby. Due to growth, they now have a requirement for a Quality Inspector to join their existing Quality team based on the shop floor, working on the standard dayshift pattern. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector will be responsible for: Conducting inspection of complex parts and assemblies using a Hexagon arm and Optical Measurement Machine in conjunction with manual inspection equipment. Completing 1st off and final inspection procedures. Creating and follow inspection plans based on engineering drawings. Programming inspection routines on the Optical Measurement Machine & Hexagon Romer Arm – running Polyworks software. Collaborating with other departments to review internal and external non-conformance. Generating detailed inspection reports documenting findings and recommendations. Maintaining calibration records for inspection equipment. Identifying potential quality issues and proactively suggest corrective actions. Participating in the continuous improvement of quality control processes. Communicating effectively with production personnel and engineers regarding inspection results. The ideal candidate for the Quality Inspector role will have: A good knowledge of inspection equipment. The ability to read engineering drawings. Must have previous experience in a similar role. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or a related field. Proven experience using optical measuring machines (OMMs) and proficiency in their software. Solid understanding of dimensional measurement principles and techniques. Experience using a Hexagon arm for 3D measurement and data capture is a strong asset. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar software). Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles. In return the Quality Inspector can expect to receive a competitive salary, 25 days bank holiday entitlement and free onsite parking. The working hours for this role are on a straight day shift, which are: 08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday, and 08:00 – 14:00 Friday. A degree of flexibility will be expected if there is the requirement to cover other shifts in the case of holidays or sickness. The role is permanent and is monthly paid.
