An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant to join the National atypical Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (aHUS) Service, which is a highly specialised service looking after patients with a rare kidney disease based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The post holder will be trained in all aspects of administrative functions of the service and support the Admin manager, Service manager and the wider team members including specialist nurses and consultants.
As a national service dealing with shared care patients, the post holder must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and telephone. The post holder will be involved in the upkeep of the national aHUS database which will require good IT skills.

2. Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
3. Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)

6. Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
7. Northern Genetics Service
8. Cramlington Manor Walks

Responsibilities:
1. To provide an efficient administration service to the aHUS Nursing team and to the Senior Clinical Team, as required.
2. Coordinate booking tests with patients, their local team and other healthcare professionals.
3. Make decisions and take action on matters of both a routine and non-routine nature on behalf of the aHUS Team.
4. Communicate verbally, via email or telephone with patients and their families on a variety of matters at the request of the nursing and clinical team.
5. Participate in gathering statistical information and analysis for both internal and external agencies under the supervision of the aHUS team.
6. Obtain investigation results including blood tests from internal and external sources.
7. Input data into specialised local database.
8. Provide cover for Senior Medical Secretary as required.
