STEM Consultant - R&D Tax Consultancy Services

Minimum Requirements:
1. Degree in Science, Engineering or Technology (or equivalent industry experience).
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
3. Good level of numeracy.
4. Ambitious, career-driven, and eager to learn new skills.
Our client is a financial consultancy that provides advice and support on R&D credits to clients within the Scientific and Technology sector. This role involves desk research to generate detailed technical and financial reports in support of clients' Research and Development activities to enable reimbursement of tax due on expenses. You will work closely with clients who operate across STEM markets and carry out a range of R&D activities in the UK, primarily with SMEs, gathering the necessary information to submit successful applications. This position suits a graduate with an interest in science, engineering, IT, or technology who prefers working in the business of science rather than in a lab.
Specific duties will involve:
1. Liaising with innovative start-ups and scale-ups in the UK to understand funding schemes and government funding options.
2. Liaising with founders and directors of scientific and tech start-ups to understand their technology advancements and funding challenges.
3. Learning about accounting principles.
4. Researching the market and keeping up to date with industry trends.
5. Liaising with clients face-to-face, over the phone, and in-person.
6. Producing spreadsheets and written reports in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will be a confident, independent self-starter who loves finding new ways to engage clients. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A degree in science or engineering is essential (2:1 or higher preferred).
