We are seeking to appoint either a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) or trainee ACP to work within the Division of Medicine at Walsall Manor Hospital. The Division consists of Speciality Medicine, Long Term Conditions, and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) across the acute medical take.
We are seeking a Qualified or trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the team and to support the development of ACPs across the Division with a particular focus on Same Day Emergency Care. The Division currently recruits qualified ACPs who will oversee Trainee ACPs, which the new post holder will be responsible for in daily and professional management.
Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners will be expected to enroll and complete an MSc in Advanced Practice in Acute Medicine within a four-year period. Alongside this, the successful candidate will be working under the supervision of qualified ACPs within the Same Day Emergency Care Department. The role will be developed to encompass all areas of Acute Medicine, and the post holder will be expected to work within the Acute Medical Unit and the Short Stay Unit. There will be opportunities to gain experience within the wider reaches of Medicine as the training progresses.
Candidates already on an MSc pathway would also be expected to complete their training within the given time frame while working within the Division of Acute Medicine.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide service seeing, treating, and decision-making for patients attending the AEC/SDEC service and to train and assist junior members of staff within the department. As a trainee, you will be allocated time to complete University days around your clinical duties.

Job description
The Qualified ACP post holder will practice independently within the Division of Medicine. This clinically focused role will encompass the skills of overall departmental coordination, services, education, and mentorship. This will result in the post holder providing exemplary patient-centered and sound evidence-based care to patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
The Qualified ACP post holder will provide clinician support and support to trainee clinicians during a span of duty. The post holder will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and clinical attributes, enabling him/her to provide expert clinical and professional support to other clinicians and staff.
The Trainee ACP will be expected to work in a supernumerary capacity until completion of their first year, where they will undertake an ACAT to assess performance to enable them to progress through the second-year gateway. At this point, they will lose supernumerary status and work within the SDEC/Acute Medicine team. The training will enable them to become clinically focused and to encompass the skills of overall departmental coordination, services, education, and mentorship.
Main Responsibilities
Working within a team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners within the Division of Medicine with a specific focus on Acute Care and Same Day Emergency Care. The Qualified ACP post holder will be expected to practice independently and provide advice, guidance, and support to the team of trainee clinicians within the Medical Acute Care environment. Trainees would be expected to work towards being an independent clinician within their training program.
The post holder will be expected to deliver 80% clinical and 20% non-clinical duties.

* Either Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Health Care Professional.
* Provide evidence of a completed ACP MSc or portfolio of practice accredited by HEE/NHSE.
* Non-medical Prescribing
