Director of Sport
Permanent full-time,
Salary: KHS own pay scale, dependent upon experience
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a champion of character, team spirit, and muddy knees? Do you believe sport teaches lessons no classroom can? We’re seeking a Director of Sport with energy, expertise, and vision — someone ready to lead a vibrant sports programme that inspires every pupil, from the shy Year 3 beginner to the ambitious Year 11 athlete.
About Us:
We’re a forward-thinking independent school where sport is part of daily life — not just the fixture list. Our pupils play hard, try new things, and wear their house colours with pride. We believe in developing resilience, teamwork, leadership, and a lifelong love of movement.
Your Role:
As Director of Sport, you will:
* Lead, develop, and deliver a high-quality PE and Games programme across Years 3–11
* Coach and inspire pupils across a wide range of sports
* Oversee teams, fixtures, sports tours, events and budget with flair and efficiency
* Champion participation and celebrate excellence in equal measure
* Manage and motivate a committed team of staff and coaches
* Build strong links with local clubs, schools, and sporting organisations
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
* Has experience teaching and leading sport in a school setting
* Can coach at least one major sport to a high level (e.g. rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, athletics)
* Thrives on collaboration, energy, and challenge
* Leads by example — on the pitch, in the gym, and around the school
* Believes that sport should be joyful, inclusive, and aspirational
In Return, We Offer:
* Autonomy to shape and grow the department
* Fantastic facilities and enthusiastic pupils
* A supportive staff team and a culture of creativity and wellbeing
* Opportunities for CPD, leadership development, and fresh thinking
If you're ready to lead with passion, purpose, and your trainers on — this is your next big game.
Apply now and help us build a sporting legacy that goes far beyond the final whistle.
We are uncompromising on safeguarding and wellbeing. These apply to children and to our staff. Our collaborative working environment promotes both personal and professional development and supports wellness and respect in the workplace
As a result, we’ll need a completed application form rather than just a CV. You’ll need to be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service
We’ll be looking to interview candidates asap, and reserve the right to appoint before the closing date. We hope to see your application soon
