Specialist Progress Tutor (Inclusive Learning)
Within the range of £24,033 to £28,656 per annum
35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
We are seeking a specialist progress tutor to be part of our Inclusive Learning team at our Rural campus. This specialist role will include delivering tutorial support to our learners, to help them progress in education and to help them either transition into adult day settings or to gain voluntary or paid employment in their chosen field.
The Specialist Progress Tutor will be allocated a caseload of learners and provide group and one-to-one support as well as delivering professional development sessions in areas such as resilience, social and emotional literacy, health and well-being, healthy relationships, life skills, British Values, e-Safety, careers, as well as preparation for next steps. These professional development sessions will need to be highly differentiated between the learners who are on bespoke RARPA courses (at the equivalent level of pre-entry through to entry level 2), learners on an entry level 3 course, and those on a supported internship programme. The role will also include targeted interventions on a one-to-one basis with young people who need support.
You will have experience of working with young people with inclusion needs (SEND) and have the ability to motivate and inspire, setting clear targets and monitoring progress to ensure our learners have the support they need to succeed.
You will need to be organised with the ability to multi-task and communicate with a range of audiences including working closely with Vocational Tutors and Student Support as well as being involved in communication and meetings with parents/carers and external agencies. You will need to flexible in approach to meet changing needs and will thrive in a busy but rewarding role and work environment.
Essential criteria for the role include a level 3 qualification accompanied by literacy and numeracy to Level 2 (GCSE grade 4/C). You should also have a teaching qualification or a commitment to attaining one within a specified timeframe.
Whist this role is based predominantly at our Suffolk Rural Campus in Otley, Suffolk New College is a multi-campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
