Top tier international law firm are looking for an experienced Costs Draftsman to join their expanding department. If you have at least a solid 3 years of experience in Legal Costs and you're keen to continue, this is not an opportunity to miss. Responsibilities:
1. Work with the head of costs on your own varied caseload of claimant costs files while keeping clients and fee earners updated on the progress.
2. Assist fee earners with costs matters related to Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, industrial diseases, and other niche areas of Civil Litigation, as well as cost estimates, prospects, and budgets.
3. Prepare cost budgets and summary assessment statements, draft all types of bills of costs, deal with negotiations maximizing costs recovery, and attend Costs Management hearings and detailed assessment hearings.
4. Provide general advice and support related to costs.
5. Prepare all kinds of costs documents such as Precedent H/T, Electronic bills, N260, prepare for detailed assessment proceedings, drafting points of dispute and replies.
Essential Experience:
1. Proficient user of Costs Master as well as general IT software such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
2. At least 3 years' experience within costs handling claimant matters within Civil Litigation, PI, Clin Neg, etc.
3. Ability to run your own busy caseload from start to finish with minimal supervision while prioritizing certain tasks, including drafting bills, negotiations, dealing with Costs Proceedings, and Advocacy. Advocacy experience is preferred but not essential.
4. Up to date knowledge of the CPR and legislations.
5. Confident in negotiating and influencing.
6. Comfortable working to strict deadlines without compromising the quality of work and client care.
Beneficial Experience:
1. Ideally, you will be ACL qualified.
2. Previous experience working in-house at a firm of Solicitors.
3. Experience managing complex multi-track cost claims.
