Adhere to uniform policy to maintain a professional appearance. Work autonomously managing own workload in designated clinical areas. Work as part of the team to deliver static training sessions and provision of trust wide Alertive bleep service and cross cover during absence. Prioritise, plan and coordinate the delivery of the operational work of the team. Liaise with the Clinical Skills Training Manager to ensure that operational work issues are addressed and to assist in informing overall strategic delivery of the service and priorities. Be responsible for liaising with managers and or Clinical Educators in designated clinical areas to assess needs and monitor competencies. Feedback to the managing clinical skills training team members ensuring the appropriate operational service cover arrangements are in place e.g., during sickness or annual leave and be adaptable to ensure that the overall work of the team is carried out effectively. Attend and actively participate in departmental and Trust committees, providing reports and information relating to the work of the clinical skills training team and feedback to managing clinical skills training team members. Be aware of own limitations and that of others, seeking advice and guidance as required. Act as a specialist resource/support for the Trust in relation to clinical skills training, Healthcare Support Worker developments, preceptorship and medical devices training processes and liaise with the managing clinical skills team and/or multi disciplinary team as appropriate. Demonstrate effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills, with team colleagues, staff in designated clinical areas and other staff trustwide and externally, at all levels on a range of matters relating to clinical skills training provision and developments. Manage difficult conversations with staff in designated clinical areas maintaining confidentiality at all times and escalate to senior colleagues as appropriate. Demonstrate effective use of Microsoft word, excel and outlook IT packages adhering to trust and IT governance policies at all times. Demonstrate a professional and keen interest in the overall work of The Christie Institute for Cancer Education. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Be accountable to Clinical Skills Training Manager for identifying training gaps, raising areas of priority, and develop and deliver clinical skills training programmes and supporting documents and policies to a range of clinical staff across professions, in large/smalls groups and/or on a 1:1 basis. Implement and oversee in collaboration with the Clinical Skills Training Manager and clinical managers an effective Healthcare Support Worker development programme in designated clinical areas. Supervise and monitor in collaboration with the Clinical Skills Training Manager the preceptorship and medical devices training processes in designated clinical areas. Adapt delivery of training dependent upon assessment of current level of knowledge, skills and experience of the learner. Devise, develop and review training materials, presentations and policies under the direction of the Clinical Skills Training Manager. Maintain and develop own knowledge, skills and competence in relation to clinical practice and clinical skills training. Proactively engage in annual appraisal with line manager. Assess the practical clinical skills competencies of individual clinical staff to established competency assessment frameworks. Feedback areas of concern to managing clinical skills team colleagues and/or departmental managers. Ensure own essential training is maintained SERVICE IMPROVEMENT AND QUALITY Be accountable to the Clinical Skills Training Manager when leading on the design, operational collation of data, evaluation, report writing and presentation of results for audits relevant to the work of the Clinical Skills Training Team. Be responsible to the Clinical Skills Team Manager when handling the investigation of clinical incidents relevant to the work of the Clinical Skills Training Team. Lead collating and maintaining training and development records in designated clinical areas. Be accountable to the Clinical Skills Training Manager to identify, devise, develop and implement new clinical skills training initiatives and educational pathways, ensuring practice is evidence based and adheres to trust standards and policies. With team establish competency standards to ensure the agreed standard of care is maintained. Supervise the professional work of staff and students requiring training in designated areas reporting any concerns to clinical managers Advise and support staff in relation to clinical skills training. Train, standardise and monitor Clinical Skills Link Workers to ensure training and assessment is carried out to agreed standards, offering guidance and support. Be accountable for evaluating clinical skills training provision, identifying skills gaps and take action to address these to ensure continued improvements, standardisation of training, including the standardisation of link assessors and quality of clinical skills training provision in designated clinical areas. Consider opportunities for income generation in relation to clinical skills training provision and offer ideas in this regard to senior colleagues. Take reasonable care of own health and safety as per trust policy. Work with Clinical Skills Training Manager and subject matter experts to provide guidance and support to clinical managers in procuring clinical skills equipment and consumables ensuring the best use of resources. Under the supervision of the Clinical Skills Training Manager lead on the trial of relevant clinical skills equipment/consumables, its evaluation, reporting and procurement. Report all accidents, incidents and near misses in relation to own sphere of work and/or defects in equipment as per trust policies and communicate as required with departmental managers and senior clinical skills training team colleagues. OTHER Be responsible for ensuring that personal corporate essential training requirements, as dictated by the trust, are met in a timely manner. Be responsible for booking an appointment and completing preparation work for annual PDR appraisal. Engage in the PDR process and take responsibility for drafting a summary of the discussion and objectives. Support the department, division and Trust and at times undertake other activities to ensure the smooth running of The Christie Institute for Cancer Education and the Trust.
