About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join our Projectsteam to work across the West Midlands.
Role Purpose:
* Taking the lead of all site activities and to be the first point of contact for weekly site based staff.
What you'll be doing
As a Site Supervisor you will:
* Always follow the Balfour Beatty 4 Golden Rules;
* Ensure all staff understand and follow the Golden Rules at all times and to stop anyone on site if these rules are not adhered to;
* Ensure the works are carried out in the most efficient and safe manner;
* Demonstrate positive attitude and behaviour towards safety;
* Report all near misses, hazards or observations via the hotline and to the Construction Manager;
* Follow company/manufacturers procedures to ensure standards are met;
* Notify the Site Supervisor of any matters that affect the progress of works (including breakdowns & damages, etc.);
* Ensure daily maintenance checks are carried out, reports are correctly completed on time and submitted by the each team member;
* Complete and check all relevant paperwork correctly and in a timely manner, raising any issues to the Construction Manager;
* Manage other site staff and ensure they are working in line to required standards;
* Be able to manage procedure compliance;
* Being involved in Daily Briefings/Toolbox Talks;
* Be flexible on working hours as and when the contract requires;
* Have willingness to help others within the team (especially when the rig is stood);
* Demonstrate the Balfour Beatty Behaviours (6 E’s);
* Be able to contribute good ideas for business improvement;
* Have willingness to teach others when needed;
* Constant collaboration with other team members;
* Collaboration with other Supervisors to ensure consistent standards are met;
* Read and work to schedules, drawings and programmes, and can advise on preparation of these documents;
* Review & update site documentation to ensure it stays relevant (e.g. Works package plan & Risk Assessment);
* Write practical and usable procedures as needed;
* Have day-to-day management responsibilities of weekly site resource and report any issues to the Construction Manager and Site Resource Manager. To include absence management of staff and to raise concerns when triggers points have been reached;
* Deliver Daily Briefings/Toolbox Talks in accordance to guidance and ensure messages are understood by site staff;
* Able to communicate clearly to a range of people delivering Dabs, Presentations and information to the appropriate audience;
* Utilise problem solving skills to resolve issues that arise on site;
* Be able to monitor and control HSEQ standards;
* Take control of the project.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities and Experience:
* Knowledge of site method statements, procedures, risk assessments and site specific rules (including lift plans);
* Knowledge of piling techniques in rotary discipline;
* Site experience;
* Good communication skills (to all levels including Supervisors);
* Ability to work as part of a team;
* Proactively challenge and be challenged where appropriate;
* Slinger/Signaller CPCS card;
* HSE CSCS card;
* Relevant manufacture/supplier training where required;
* Maintenance training;
* Good knowledge of more than one Rotary discipline;
* First Aid;
* SMSTS;
* Crane Lift Supervisor (CPCS);
* NVQ Level 3 (Specialist Operations Piling);
* CSCS Occupational Works Supervisor -Level 3 NVQ - Gold card (CSCS) Or Civil Engineering Supervisor – Gold Card (CSCS).
