APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY: $54,434.16 to $80,053.92
PAY GRADE: 31
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: A Permanent, full time vacancy

The Position
Locksmiths maintain the master key system for a major facility and install and maintain locking devices and systems. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Locksmith II will be working under the direct supervision of the Facility Supervisor II. They will have direct contact, working with inmates on a daily basis. Direct responsibilities will include:
1. Troubleshooting on-site problems with locking devices
2. Performing necessary repairs
3. Cutting keys as needed
4. Maintaining all locking devices
5. Adjusting metal doors for proper operations
6. Installing locking devices for new construction
7. Keeping a continuous inventory of initial key locations
8. Documenting changes in location and key patterns
9. Following procedures/policies regarding security and key control
10. Completing routine preventative maintenance on all locking devices
11. Closely supervising all inmate help
Provide quality and quantity of information and service to co-workers and external customers and display a professional demeanor at all times when interacting with staff and inmates.

Minimum Qualifications
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience:
Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level locksmithing experience; OR one year of experience as a Locksmith I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
The Examination
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
