SENIOR LAWYERS (ADULTS & EDUCATION)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cheshire East's Legal Services Team for Senior solicitors within our Adult & Education Legal Team.
These roles will provide legal and procedural advice and support to our client department, in the most effective and efficient way to meet the requirements of the Council as a whole and specific Services and Departments.
These roles provide support to the Principal Lawyers, handling a caseload of complex cases related to Adults Social Care, including Court of Protection, Deprivation of Liberty, Mental Health, Mental Capacity Act, Inquests, advisory work relating to the Care Act 2014 responsibilities, ordinary residence, funding, and charging disputes, as well as advising schools and attendance at Education & Transport appeals.
We are a close-knit supportive team, working hard towards positive outcomes for our client departments. Caseloads are monitored & supported, and there is a varied range & nature of work available. You will also be encouraged to build on your career goals, in a forward-thinking, inclusive Authority.
ABOUT YOU
You will:
* Be an admitted solicitor, barrister or legal executive with a current practising certificate or equivalent.
* Have a wide range of post qualification experience in Adults social care & Education law.
* Provide timely, high quality, legal, tactical & strategic advice.
* Be able to represent the Council, including advocacy skills & a willingness to undertake advocacy.
* Have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrable skills in negotiation, drafting, and persuading.
* Demonstrate a proven track record and working to tight deadlines particularly on complex cases.
* Be able to work confidently & effectively either alone or as part of a team.
* Support and assist the rest of the team as well as build & maintain excellent client relationships.
