About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Communications Team in Bournemouth.
Our External Communications Manager will plan, manage and deliver LV’s external communications activity. Working across the business, you will play a key role in protecting, managing and enhancing the reputation of the organisation externally.
You will proactively manage our plans and activity across PR, media relations, public affairs and member communications.
The role offers hybrid working based in our Bournemouth offices on an 8 month fixed term contract.
About you
* Manage the development and delivery of external communications strategy and activity.
* Manage our public affairs programme of works, ensuring it is well planned and executed. Be on the pulse of updates and changes and provide guidance to the wider team, with the support of an external agency.
* Responsible for all member communications, ensuring everything we do has the member at the heart.
* Support the delivery of key corporate activity, including the annual report and accounts and AGM, as well as leading on our awards programme.
* Produce informative and engaging communications for external stakeholders and manage the coordination and content generation of a wide range of communications materials, both online and offline.
* Manage LV’s press office and develop and deliver an effective and proactive media relations and wider PR programme to help tell LV’s story and support marketing activity of our products and services.
* Manage crisis and issues providing sound guidance.
* Support and lead relationships with key partners and member organisations to maximise opportunities.
* Proactively plan and deliver CSR and community initiatives, ensuring they are aligned to our mutual ethos and purpose – and engage and excite colleagues.
* Act as a brand guardian ensuring our messaging is consistent and aligned.
* Set targets, measure and evaluate the outcomes of all activity.
* Budget management.
Key skills & experience
* A highly-experienced communications professional ideally with knowledge of financial services.
* Proven ability to formulate detailed communications strategies and effectively implement them using a range of communications approaches and monitor their success.
* Experience of successfully delivering external communications across a range of online and offline channels and to multiple audiences.
* Strong media relations experience and thorough understanding of the media and how they operate.
* Experience of managing communications activity encompassing a range of stakeholders including customers and MPs.
* Experience of running an effective press office with the appropriate tools and processes in place.
* Experience of managing projects: completing work on time and to budget and manage any issues and crisis.
* Excellent writing skills and ability to write in “Plain English”.
* Strong presentation skills, proof reading and attention to detail.
* Excellent people skills to develop strong external contacts and internal networks.
* Experience of managing a team.
* Working directly with senior leaders.
* Experience of working with in-house design and digital teams or similar.
* Willingness to work outside normal working hours as required and managing out of hours media enquiries.
