As a Senior Personal Injury Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting customers through their PI claims journey, from initial contact to case resolution. You'll bring expertise, empathy, and a proactive mindset to build strong relationships and ensure the best possible outcomes. Experience in defending claims and handling jurisdictional claims is highly valued. Core Skills Required Investigative Mindset: Handling personal injury cases will require you to gather facts, study legal documents, and conduct detailed investigations to build strong claims cases. Excellent Communication: Interact effectively with clients, insurance companies, and claimant solicitors. You’ll also compile and deliver training and act as a mentor and referral point to Personal Injury Handlers. Analytical Thinking: Assess evidence, analyse complex situations, and make informed decisions while evaluating PI claims and litigation trends. Negotiation Skills: Confidently negotiate settlements with various parties to achieve fair and timely resolutions. Deadline-Driven: Manage deadlines for filing documents, responding to inquiries, and meeting claims requirements. What’s Involved Manage a portfolio of moderately complex personal injury and third-party motor claims within authority levels up to £125,000, including: Serious bodily injury and psychological trauma claims. Vulnerable road user claims (e.g., pedestrians, motorcyclists, cyclists). Specialized claims, including e-scooter cases. Scottish and Northern Irish jurisdictional claims. Initial fraud concerns (e.g., LVI) and cases managed within injury and credit hire portals. Handle a small caseload of development files outside your authority limit under supervision from the Large Loss team. Ensure accurate reserve setting, liability agreements, and adherence to case law and accident circumstances. Authorize claims payments within authority levels and proactively assess litigation cases, tracking trends, and identifying process improvements. Act as a mentor and referral point for Personal Injury Handlers, assist with new-starter training, and participate in internal audits. Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and business partners while upholding compliance with company policies and values. Experience & Knowledge Advanced experience handling personal injury claims, including indemnity validation, liability resolution, quantum assessment, and settlement. Expertise in working with third-party injury claims, including interactions with claimant representatives (e.g., solicitors, accident management companies). Strong understanding of RTA liability, litigation processes, and applicable case law. Familiarity with MOJ and OIC portals. Comprehensive knowledge of English, Scottish, Irish, and foreign law as it applies to technical motor claims and legal fields.
