The Surgery Division at Birmingham Children's and Women's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Service Manager to join the Surgery Management Team.

As Service Manager for Surgery, you will be responsible for the effective operational management of surgical specialties.
This role is a senior management role with a high profile and requires applicants that have a significant level of leadership knowledge and operational experience including budget management, workforce planning, and business planning and performance management.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will support the division in leading and managing the performance of the clinical specialties in the delivery of planned service capacity through the effective use of resources.
* To manage the performance of the clinical specialties against local and national qualitative and quantitative service targets and within the Trust's financial allocations.
* To lead and manage the assessment of complex operational issues and challenges facing the Directorate. This will demand high levels of judgment, analysis and interaction to agree clear solutions and recommendations that the post holder will be responsible for implementing.
* To provide effective and innovative leadership and management, ensuring clear direction concerning service improvement and effective utilisation of resources.

Education/Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent level of relevant management experience.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience, Skills and Specialist Knowledge
* Minimum of 3 years relevant managerial experience, including line management.
* Knowledge of NHS direction and policy initiatives.
* Proven change management skills in a complex health care setting.
* Experience in budgetary and resource management.
* Knowledge, understanding and experience in Risk Management and Governance issues.
* Experience in managing complex organisational change projects.
* Experience in capacity and service planning within an acute health care setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of Maternity Services.
* Familiarity with IT based management & clinical information systems.

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year per annum, Plus on-call enhancement
