Who are Ambient Support?
Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with mental health needs, and people with learning disabilities.
The Role of our Registered Respite Manager
You will be responsible for ensuring services are managed effectively and efficiently according to the specifications of the services and the aims and values of Ambient Support.

Key responsibilities of our Registered Respite Manager:
1. Coaching, mentoring, motivating, and supporting the staff to deliver the support commissioned.
2. Ensure all the services provide a safe, clean, and happy environment for the people supported.
3. Ensure that all staff are implementing the values, ethos, and objectives of Ambient Support.
4. Monitor and manage all local safeguarding issues and promote best practice in the protection of vulnerable adults.
5. Manage the services within corporate strategies, including the implementation of management information systems, rostering, and audit requirements.
6. Manage the performance of staff, including taking appropriate disciplinary action where necessary.
7. Ensure own continued professional development by assisting in the identification of learning needs and undertaking relevant training.
8. Participate in on-call arrangements as required.
9. Involve people we support in all aspects of service delivery and development, ensuring all services have an identified involvement champion and are working towards an agreed involvement plan.
10. Health and Safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Ensure that systems are in place to manage and monitor compliance in all areas in accordance with the organisation’s policies, procedures, and national and local regulatory bodies.
11. Assess the competencies of Service Leads and staff in the identified geographical area and ensure that each individual is demonstrating the leadership qualities required by Ambient Support.
12. Ensure that regular team meetings take place and that all staff have the opportunity to contribute their ideas.
13. Ensure that all staff are fully communicated with and have the chance to celebrate their success and share learning.
14. Monitor all comments and complaints and ensure that appropriate action is taken so that these lead to improvements in the support provided, including practice observations and giving feedback.
15. Undertake any other responsibilities requested by the line manager as appropriate to the level of responsibility, including service development and project management.
16. Oversight of governance and support with quality improvements, auditing, and identifying areas of improvement.
Skills and attributes of our Registered Respite Manager:
1. A Level 5 in Health and Social Care or Management or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
2. Experience of managing high-quality care and support services that have achieved full compliance (Good or Outstanding) with CQC.
3. Proven supervisory or management experience in Care & Support settings.
4. Experience of supervising, training, and mentoring care and support staff.
5. Experience of the recruitment and selection of staff. Experience of motivating and leading a staff team.
6. Experience of undertaking disciplinary investigations and hearing disciplinaries.
7. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise, and work to deadlines.
8. Effective motivational and engagement skills.
9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
10. IT literacy and use of Microsoft Excel, Teams, Forms.
11. Ability to write clear, concise reports.
12. Able to reflect, critically appraise own performance, and use supervision as an effective tool.
13. Be flexible and self-motivated.
14. Excellent personal, organisational, and time management skills.
