We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our busy, friendly and dynamic team within the ENT outpatient's department. We provide high quality care to a number of patients including those with head and neck cancers. As a Nurse in ENT outpatients, you will have the opportunity to learn new and valuable nursing skills with the aim to utilise these skills in a variety of clinics such as: minor ops clinic, Nurse led aural care, skin allergy testing and smells testing.
We are seeking an individual to join our team who is a highly motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Nurse. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience within ENT or head and neck nursing is desirable but not essential, as training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
This is a cross-site specialty and staff are required to work at both Cheltenham General & Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals. Free transport is provided for trust staff by shuttle-bus between the two sites., This post is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate to join the ENT nursing team within the outpatients department based at both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospital.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with all members of our multidisciplinary team. You will be working as part of a team to deliver high quality nursing care to patients attending a variety of clinic appointments, including head and neck cancer clinics, tracheostomy changes/care, Nurse led aural care, minor ops, smells and allergy testing and more., As a Registered Nurse working in the ENT Outpatient department, you will be expected to:
- Help ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care.
- You will need to communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate effective management of own time to manage caseload of patients within a defined scope of practice.
- Adhere to professional accountability and standards, ensuring that professional practices are in line with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Trust policy.
- Take on responsibility for your own personal development and support other members of the team.
- Provide assurance that the clinical governance procedures and protocols are embedded and adhered to in respect to risk, safety, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrate and provide holistic, patient centred care.
- Demonstrate an ability to assess patient condition and implement appropriate care within your scope of practice.
- Deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.
- Administer medication and treatment within procedure for the ordering, prescribing and administration of medication guidelines.
- Deliver and receive information which may cause emotional distress to all parties involved.
- Act as a mentor for students and junior members of staff.
- Have an understanding of, and be able to use of our IT systems.
- Assist the team in the day to day running of the clinical area.
- Respond to emergency situations with composure, maintaining patient safety and seeking immediate support, supporting the patient, family and other staff as required.
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers potentially complex, sensitive or distressing information.
- Maintain clear, accurate and concise patient records in line with departmental and professional standards and include relevant outcome measures.
- Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.

Excellent communication skills are an essential part of nursing. Within our specialty we encounter patients with communication difficulties therefore, it is important that Nurses are able to demonstrate both good and effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
Previous experience within ENT/head and neck is not essential however, we are looking for someone who has a keen interest in learning new skills and developing both individually and as part of a team.

The Nursing team within the ENT department work closely with clinicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team in order to deliver care throughout our various clinics. We are a close-working team that embrace new challenges and enjoy learning new skills.
Clinics currently run Monday - Friday, 8-6pm. A variety of shift patterns are available in order to staff the clinics appropriately.
