JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Private Client team works with clients from all different sizes and segments, from wealthy individuals and international families to trusts and entrepreneurial businesses. We provide holistic advice to our clients across all areas of tax. Typically work in this area will focus on the issues affecting the wealth owners as well as their wealth and business structures. We collaborate with other areas of PwC to enable us to work holistically with clients to find solutions to achieve their plans.
As well as general Private Client practitioners, we are specifically looking to recruit Managers who wish to have a focus in the following areas of expertise;
1. Deals Tax: advising businesses and their owners on all tax aspects surrounding M&A, from preparation for a sale through to deal execution and post-deal structuring.
2. Real Estate Tax: advising Real Estate businesses (including Real Estate funds, REITs, property developers and investment businesses as well as property-rich businesses generally) on their tax affairs
3. International Tax: advising private businesses with international operations (inbound and outbound) as well as internationally-mobile entrepreneurs on cross-border tax considerations
Key Responsibilities
4. We are looking to recruit a Manager based in one of our Northern offices; Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle, with significant and varied experiences of advising some or all of HNWI and trusts, privately owned businesses and private equity, on a broad range of complex matters.
5. A key role in a growing team, working closely with experienced Private Client Partners and Directors and having responsibility to develop new client relationships, identifying and pursuing new opportunities from within our market.
6. Responsibility for a diverse and broad portfolio of client engagements. Developing market leading relationships with both our interesting clients and internal stakeholders, collaborating across the firm when developing client relationships or delivering complex projects.
7. Maintaining an expert level of relevant tax knowledge (both UK and overseas), staying current with technical developments including changes in tax law and legislation.
8. Advising clients and internal stakeholders on the latest tax technical issues, including delivering sessions at client / knowledge events.
9. Supervising, coaching and providing regular feedback to Senior Associates and Associates within the team while also keeping more senior stakeholders updated of progress.
The skills and experience we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will possess initiative, drive and the proven ability to work with and help lead a growing team, possessing the personal skills to maintain deep, trusted long-term relationships with our clients and contacts in the market and will have the the following skills and experience;
10. Must be ACA and/or CTA qualified, or overseas equivalent.
11. Relevant and up-to-date UK (and preferably some overseas) tax knowledge - varied experience of more complex tax issues facing private wealth clients.
12. Strong project management skills - able to manage several demanding client projects while remaining resilient and planning workload for self and others.
13. Excellent communication skills - the candidate will be expected to be the point of contact on complex client engagements in their portfolio while supporting a range of stakeholders including client contacts and PwC staff.
14. Excellent written communication - providing thorough and robust review of all written deliverables, including reports, technical memos and other concise advice for clients.
15. Coaching and delegation - the successful candidate will help other Managers in the team coach, develop and delegate to a team of associates and senior associates, helping them grow their tax technical expertise alongside their client management skills.
16. Efficient use of technology - in managing client and contact relationships, pursuing opportunities and overseeing the delivery of analysis and written deliverables.
