And we’re growing fast About the role We’re looking for a Housing First Pathway Coach (or ‘Caseworker’) to transform the lives of disadvantaged people by helping them transition into their own, long-term, housing. You’ll be at the forefront of Beam’s Housing First programme in Oxford, designed to support those experiencing homelessness whose needs aren’t met by traditional homelessness services. You’ll take on the responsibility of supporting a small caseload of people referred to Beam, our “members”. You’ll be playing a leading and critical role in supporting these members to sustain stable housing provided by the Council, ensuring they engage with other services and building their independence. This involves a wide range of member-led support activities tailored to each individual’s needs. You’ll guide clients through moving into and looking after a home, accessing support services, and connecting with their community. Equally important, you’ll work to boost their self-confidence and autonomy through personalised coaching, skill development, and encouragement. You’ll need Experience working with hard-to-reach individuals with complex needs - ideally you’ll have already worked in a similar role, such as rough sleeping outreach or Drug & Alcohol services. Strong communication skills - you’ll regularly be communicating with a diverse group of members, as well as internal stakeholders and our government/support service partners to create strong support networks around our members. Compassion for people in tough situations - many of your members will have long histories of trauma that can play out in unexpected way. Respect for data-driven decision-making - alongside your humanity, you’ll appreciate the importance of acting on data. You’ll be Supporting vulnerable individuals and crafting personalised action plans - using our AI-powered caseworker technology and your excellent caseworker skills to empower members to reach their goals. Forging strong and meaningful relationships - some members will engage with this service for years giving the opportunity to build back their trust in people and systems. Working towards targets - ensuring measurable progress and tailored impact in the lives of our members. Harnessing technology to amplify your impact - Homelessness is on the rise and we’re supporting more people than ever before - you’ll learn to harness platforms like G-Suite and AI tools to increase efficiencies and ultimately better support your members. Wearing your problem-solving hat - the people we support have unique barriers and you’ll regularly research and find creative ways for them to reach their unique goals. Working in partnership with multiple services - you’ll play a navigator role with your members supporting them in working with and advocating on their behalf with drug and alcohol services, housing officers, healthcare and various other services. You are Determined - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who loves hard challenges. Humble and supportive - your members will have their ups and downs but you’ll stick with them. Confident and have strong communication skills - you’ll set boundaries and clearly communicate with a diverse group of people from members, stakeholders and partners. Adaptable and resilient - you’re someone who’s energised by ever-changing and fast-paced environments. An ‘ideas person’ - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who is driven to find new and better ways of doing things. Willing and able to travel into Oxford daily - your members will need a lot of in-person support across the city.
