What you'll be doing:
The Risk Manager reports into the CIO alongside other ‘Heads of’ for the Investment Department.
The Risk Manager will provide first line risk oversight of an FCA regulated subsidiary, People’s Investment Limited. People’s Investment Limited provides advice to the Trustee Board of the People’s Pension, a £28bn UK DC Master Trust as well as providing oversight of other outsource providers such as custodian and asset managers.
The Risk Manager would be an integral senior hire in the envisaged structure of the 20-strong investment team, providing input across a range of advice pieces across all funds and asset classes.
●Establish and maintain an investment risk framework and governance structure, that integrates with the Groupwide risk framework.
●Act as “first line” risk defence for a regulated entity, People’s Investment Limited.
●Agree fund risk frames with the CIO and CRO and monitor these using independent views on underlying holdings data supported by appropriate systems.
●Ongoing monitoring and analysis of risk within the portfolios at different levels (e.g. region, sector currency, factors, rates, spread etc.) and their implications.
●Development and integration of data and systems alongside other teams (equity team, fixed income team, asset allocation) in order to support independent risk view,
●Review / challenge investment proposals made by the Investment team.
●Provide risk signoff into the Investment Exec on all investment proposals
What we’re looking for:
●5-10 years’ experience within an asset manager / HF environment
●CFA, IMC, or equivalent qualification
●Experience of performance and risk attribution on single and cross asset class portfolios (incl. alts and illiquids / unquoteds).
●Quantitative/ modelling capability.
●Knowledge of portfolio construction.
●Familiarity with different risk systems (Barra, Riskmetrics, Factset Axioma).
●Understanding of fund / asset valuation principles and methodologies.
●Understanding of the different methodologies of performance attribution for each asset class.
