The Job
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated manager to join our residential services as a registered manager of our new specially designed children’s home. This is an exciting time to join our team as we continue to expand our provision to ensure it meets the needs of our children.
The manager of our home will have the opportunity to build on positive performance and trauma informed practice, supporting our continuous improvement journey to provide care that gives children the best chances to succeed in life.
You will join an established, dynamic and dedicated team of children's homes managers that provides peer support, opportunities to share good practice and promotes a consistent approach to caring for Newcastle's children in care.
You will be supported by Future Focus, an experienced and well qualified team of psychologists, speech and language therapists and other dedicated mental health practitioners who will support you to provide the best possible care to our children.
The posts require experience of working in residential care and a recognised social work qualification or a qualification equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. As a Children’s Home Manager, you will be required to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager and ensure the home complies with its regulatory requirements and is inspection ready. You may also be required to cover shifts including occasional sleep ins.
The Candidate
As a manager in our homes, you will have an excellent understanding of the needs of children and young people in care and be committed to making a lasting difference to their lives helping them to achieve their full potential.
You will be a confident and creative person whose mentoring and leadership skills will enable the children and young people you are caring for to have positive life experiences, grow, develop and thrive. You will understand the impact of trauma on children and young people and be able to lead and support your staff team to work positively and effectively, using a trauma informed approach.
You will be experienced at building a resilient and successful staff team through reflective supervision and skilful leadership and will be confident and skilled in managing change that will support both staff and young people.
This is a busy yet rewarding role so outstanding organisational skills, and an eye for high quality case recording will be essential. You will also have experience of working collaboratively with other professionals including social workers, education, health colleagues as well as our Future Focus team which supports our trauma informed care journey.
