This role complements the professional work of English teachers by taking responsibility for small group English tuition (typically groups of 1, 2, or 3) up to GCSE English Language and Literature level.
To advance pupils’ progress in English, activities involve planning, preparing, and delivering tuition sessions as well as monitoring pupils, assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' achievement and progress, under the direction of the class teacher and Key Stage 3 and 4 leader for English.
The contract is for 28.75 hours per week, term time only (including training days) up to 31st August 2025 in the first instance. Your working days will be Monday - Friday. Your hours include intervention planning and preparation time and one duty per week with the requirement to undertake a form.
Our school ambition focuses on developing a culture whereby all students can achieve highly and will be supported whatever their background or ability. This relies on providing learning and teaching of the highest possible quality to engage, enthuse, and motivate. At TGS we do not limit our definition of achievement simply to traditionally academic pursuits.
As part of the STAR Multi-Academy Trust, TGS provides a high-quality learning community that inspires and motivates its employees as well as its students. We are seeking a candidate who wants to make a positive difference to the lives of young people and has a commitment to lifelong learning in order to be an outstanding member of our team. We support colleagues who are ambitious for their own professional development, have a ‘can do’ attitude, are creative problem solvers, and work collaboratively.
We offer a range of extensive opportunities, incentives, and benefits to staff including:
1. Access to STAR MAT’s employee benefits website with discounts on retailers, holidays, days out, and more.
2. Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for a range of free and confidential advice with support materials available.
3. Continuous training and development opportunities.
The STAR Multi Academy Trust prides itself on the work that it does supporting young people and welcomes all applications. The STARMAT is committed to equality, and to making fair and equitable treatment an integral part of everything we do. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post is subject to a successful DBS check and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before an appointment is confirmed.
