This national M&E Contracting business are recruiting for a new Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Plymouth, this is due to contract wins across the Devon and Cornwall region.
As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for delivery on Mechanical and Electrical projects ranging from £250k through to around £2.5-3million, projects vary from Mechanical and Electrical small works such as LED upgrades to HVAC plant upgrades through to brand new M&E, HVAC plant installations on new build sites. Some projects will also include elements of building fabrics within the Facilities side of the business.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of cost control methods in the Mechanical, Electrical and Construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
* Conduct regular cost analysis and reporting to identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of projects.
* Assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate financial impacts on projects.
* Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
* Liaise with clients to provide updates on project costs and financial performance.
Requirements
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry with an emphasis on Mechanical, Electrical, AC and Duct-work is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of cost control techniques and financial management principles.
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Experience with a range of Contract terms including JCT & NEC
