Textile Fibre Specialist / Scientist - Circular Recycling of Mixed-Textiles
SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE’S CLIENT is working on a world’s first artificial intelligence waste garment project based near London. The company is going through a period of significant growth and there is an opportunity to join the project team at a key time and be involved in solving a complex problem.
SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE’S CLIENT are looking to appoint a Textile Fibre Specialist / Scientist. The Textile Fibre Specialist / Scientist will help us unlock the full potential of fibre breakdown. A background in Nonwoven is required.
As a Textile Fibre Specialist / Scientist, your responsibilities encompass a variety of critical tasks:
* Textile Material Development: Researching and developing new textile materials with specific properties and applications.
* Product Design and Manufacturing: Designing textile-based products and overseeing their manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and efficiency.
* Quality Control and Testing: Conducting tests and quality control procedures to ensure textile products meet industry standards.
* Process Optimization: Optimizing textile manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
* Research and Development: Contributing to advancements in textile technology through research and innovation.
* Consultation and Technical Support: Providing technical expertise to industries that use textiles, such as fashion, healthcare, and automotive.
* Work closely with our Senior Fibre Extrusion Scientist in the planning, set-up, and implementation of new experiments
* Work alongside our Senior Fibre Extrusion Scientist in identifying new avenues for research, including in fabric prototyping, coloration, and surface functionalization
* Prepare fibre and yarn samples for various characterization processes
* Maintain a tidy and detailed lab notebook of all experiments and data
* BS or higher in textiles, fibre science, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field
* Basic knowledge of tensile testing, rheology, DSC, titrations, optical microscopy
* Desire to work in a start-up environment with a small team
* A passion for sustainable materials and circular design
* Familiarity with melt spinning and yarn processing a plus
* Working experience in a university lab or other is strongly preferred
This is a permanent opportunity based onsite 5 days a week starting in January or February.
