Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board
This post is one of three consultant posts in psychiatry of substance misuse in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. This post provides Consultant leadership to Community Drug and Alcohol Teams in Cynon and Merthyr, supporting the Community Drug and Alcohol Team (CDAT) service for Merthyr and Cynon Valley areas.
A special interest will be encouraged and is negotiable. The post can be full time, maximum part time, or job share by negotiation.
The post will be based in the Merthyr/Cynon Locality but the post holder will be expected to work at other Health Board premises and at other sites within the district.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Provide clinical expertise and leadership to a defined multidisciplinary team and manage the clinical care of patients with substance abuse problems referred from a defined catchment area.
2. Have clinical responsibility for patients from the Merthyr and Cynon Integrated Locality Group.

Job Responsibilities
1. Manage complex patients from core teams and the Primary Care Drug and Alcohol Service (PCDAS) identified by the Specialty doctor or nurses that require intervention at consultant level.
2. Provide supervision for the Specialty doctor and core trainee, and to a Specialist Registrar if the post holder is approved as trainer and an SpR is allocated to the team.

Qualifications
* Current GMC registration
* MRC Psych or equivalent
* Approved Clinician Approval
* Section 12 (2) approval
* Welsh Approved Clinician Approval
Knowledge and Experience
* Comprehensive training and experience in psychiatry
* Higher training experience in psychiatry
* Experience of acting as Responsible Clinician
Management
* Management and Administration Experience
* Experience of Appraising Staff
Audit and Research
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Evidence of having undertaken audit relevant to specialty
* Proven capability to initiate and undertake original work
* Evidence of service-wide audit with significant and lasting impact on practice
