JOB DESCRIPTION
The International Private Bank (IPB) ESG team is responsible for leading the sustainability efforts of the private bank across EMEA and Asia. A significant focus for the team is building analytical methodologies, content and disclosures to help comply with a significant number of recent sustainability-related regulations. Critical to the team’s success is building relationships with individuals both internal and external to J.P. Morgan, including partnerships with asset class leads and control partners, as well as engagement across the line of business and with regulators.
Job summary
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with knowledge and experience in climate risk management and related methodologies to enable our IPB ESG team deliver on our regional regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be hands-on and comfortable with a level of ambiguity befitting a new and growing team. They will possess a passion for creative and critical thinking, an understanding of financial markets and experience with the regulatory expectations around ESG issues in Europe.
Job responsibilities
* Build the climate analytics function including analysis of external data vendors and methodologies, developing target operating models and ensuring appropriate controls for ongoing compliance with annual obligations.
* Enhance the climate risk management and reporting framework to align with various regulatory expectations for the private bank.
* Support the annual publication of various climate reports for IPB (e.g. for CSRD and TCFD requirements).
* Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed to support broader sustainability initiatives within the team.
* Support IPB Head of ESG on strategic asks and analysis.
* Develop strong contextual awareness of industry-wide and cross-line of business climate risk-related methodologies, topics and trends.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
* Experience in climate research and analytics.
* Practical understanding of ESG data and methodologies used in an asset/wealth management context.
* Strong understanding and interest in approaches to managing climate risk in investments.
* Proficiency in Excel and using big datasets essential.
* Creative thinker and problem solver.
* Ability to drive consensus amongst large teams through collaboration and influence.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
* Experience with transition planning a plus.
* Python programming and an understanding of quantitative approaches using ESG data is a plus.
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities and work independently to achieve milestones.
