Job Description
We now have an opportunity for a Transport Shift Manager on a full time, permanent basis based at our customer site, Tesco Doncaster.
Responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Supervisors and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget/forecast expectations.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00
Key Duties of the Transport Shift Manager:
* Manage the Transport staff to execute traffic plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels.
* Reduce non-contract maintenance and damage spends through the use of vehicle passports, monitoring of defects being raised.
* Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan the resource.
* Manage the resourcing for the site through effective planning of both core drivers and shift patterns through to daily and weekly resourcing of agency drivers.
* Manage holiday allocations of drivers ensuring there is enough resource to meet customer requirements.
* Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training and personal development plans.
* Ensure all staff are fully trained and have the correct equipment.
* Manage any incidents and accidents, and follow the process through investigations and the EOA system.
* Be responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers clocking on and off shift.
* Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures.
* Ensure annual MOTs and service intervals on all fleet equipment are carried out on time and the relevant paperwork is obtained.
* Attend Monthly Customer review meetings in the absence of the Transport Manager.
* Support implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and other areas of the business.
* Generate and implement ideas with regards to staff and operational changes, which will help drive continuous improvement.
* Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff, both in your department and across the wider business.
* Manage and carry out monthly site audits ensuring that all processes are being followed in line with Culina Group policy.
Qualifications
* Previous supervisory experience within a busy transport environment.
* Good commercial knowledge of transport operations.
* Planning and organising skills with a high level of numeracy.
* Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team.
* An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills.
* Personal motivation and confidence resulting in a positive impact.
* Genuine team player, a firm and confident manager who is skilled at setting clear objectives and motivating their team.
* Highly tolerant of change – able to work within an evolving organisation.
* Able to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding environment.
* Problem solving in a pressurised environment.
* National and International CPC qualification – desirable.
