Union Jab CIC delivers boxing classes to children and adults, typically those who have never engaged in boxing before. Our unique method and class structure promote positive social, mental, and physical health outcomes through boxing training. We work with schools, organisations, and local communities to create meaningful impact through our sessions.
Role Description:
We are seeking passionate and reliable boxing coaches to join our team, with new sessions starting September 2025. As a Union Jab Boxing Coach, you will play a pivotal role in teaching boxing classes while fostering non-boxing related outcomes such as improved teamwork, problem-solving, discipline, and respect. Coaches will receive full training in our specific coaching methodology and session structure, and will have the opportunity to bring their own unique style to the sessions.
You will be responsible for coaching groups of 10-30 individuals, ensuring their safety, engagement, and progression. Your work will help create a positive environment where individuals of all backgrounds can thrive. We seek coaches to cover the following boroughs:
* North Tyneside
* Gateshead
* Newcastle
* Northumberland
* Sunderland
* South Tyneside
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver boxing sessions based on Union Jab's class framework
* Promote individual growth in areas such as teamwork, discipline, and exercise participation
* Ensure safe and effective training by following class rules and providing motivation
* Adapt sessions to meet the needs of the group and improvise where necessary
* Coach groups of 10-30 people, ensuring every participant receives individual attention
* Work with children, adults, and individuals who may face behavioural challenges and/or be neurodivergent (e.g., ASD, Autism, ADHD)
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* First aid certification
* Recent enhanced DBS check on update service
* Safeguarding certification, or willingness to have in place before start date
* Driving license and own transport
* Experience in delivering boxing training
* A passion for boxing and coaching, with experience working with groups
* Personal experience in boxing/contact martial arts training, including sparring
* Level 1 or higher England Boxing certification is ideal
* Level 2 gym instruction and/or Level 3 personal training certification preferred
* Evidence of further education and professional development highly beneficial
* Patient, calm, and able to see the bigger picture in an individual’s long-term progress
* Strong role model with a positive attitude toward hard work and self-improvement
* Reliable and dependable, understanding the importance of routine
* Flexible, creative, and able to adapt to changing group needs
* Passionate about boxing and working with individuals who may require additional support
Compensation:
* £30 per 45-minute session, plus fuel expenses
* Highly flexible working hours
* Commission for selling or up-selling Union Jab programmes
* Full training and ongoing professional development
* Equipment and uniform provided
* Opportunity to pick up additional casual work during school terms
* Potential for salaried positions starting January 2026
