If you have experience of delivering mental health support in a community setting and are interested in this opportunity, wed love to hear from you Overall Purpose of the Job: To actively contribute to the development of LIPS community-based wellbeing service provision, including the management of crisis intervention and counselling referrals. The Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner role will work in collaboration with partner agencies to support individuals, their families and local communities to build resilience and address needs of social, emotional and mental wellbeing. Within this role you will offer the right support, at the right time, to address risk factors and promote protective factors. Main Tasks and Duties: To assist individuals, families and communities by: Developing and overseeing a comprehensive counselling and support service. Co-ordination of health and wellbeing initiatives in line with LIPS objectives. To link with stakeholders, other departments and external agencies to achieve objectives. To liaise closely with the Project manager and other staff and volunteers in the effective coordination of services. Key Responsibilities: Co-ordination of health and well-being initiatives in line with LIPS objectives and PHA standards. Management of counselling and support referrals for those impacted by suicide, including the signposting of individuals and organisations to relevant bodies where appropriate i.e. local Health Trust, GP, Lifeline and Samaritans etc. Collaboration with other professionals in the mental well-being support of the client base. Support of staff and volunteers to achieve objectives. Co-ordination of support from individuals, families and members of the community following a suicide bereavement. Support Suicide Awareness sessions for local schools, clubs, employers and relevant bodies. Support the project manager in working with statutory bodies, charities and community groups. General Responsibilities: Maintain appropriate records of own work ensuring a high standard of record keeping in compliance with professional body guidelines and organisational policies on confidentiality, accuracy and GDPR. Comply with organisational and departmental policies and procedures. Promote and demonstrate appropriate behaviours in line with organisational values. Comply with legal duties and responsibilities under Health and Safety legislation, plus a general duty to work safely and not to put others at risk i.e. colleagues, individuals, volunteers as a result of any activity or omission at work. To ensure that appropriate information systems are maintained, and reports prepared to allow easy monitoring of intervention work. To ensure that services are targeted, organised, and implemented appropriately within the LIPS targeted areas. Undertake any other duties which may be assigned to meet organisational need and which are reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of the post as defined. Person Specification: CRITERIA Essential Qualifications and Professional Development Degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Health & Social Care, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology/Psychotherapy, etc. Current registration with a relevant professional body. Experience A minimum of 2 years experience (can include placements) in assessing and providing Psychological Interventions to adults with a wide range of mental health problems. Experience maintaining records in line with PHA/professional body guidelines. Experience in offering advice, guidance, and signposting. Experience in assessing client needs, including risk assessment, safeguarding, and identifying appropriate support to meet those needs. Experience managing clinical risk. Experience working in a community wellbeing setting. Experience facilitating practical, skills-based workshops. Key Skills and Abilities Good listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate well with a wide range of people. Effective written communication skills, including the preparation of reports and case notes. Ability to remain calm and deal sensitively with distress and unpredictability, as well as managing conflict effectively. Ability to manage own workload and caseload. Demonstrates an understanding of the need to use evidence-based psychological therapies and its relevance to the role. Ability to co-deliver training and lead group activities. Other Possess a full, current UK driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car upon appointment. Desirable Qualifications and Professional Development A Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or a relevant Mental Health discipline.
