Senior Accounts Assistant (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Accounts Assistant to join our team on a maternity cover contract, with the possibility of a permanent position. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing our financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a strong background in accounting and finance, with proficiency in using accounting software and tools. The Senior Accounts Assistant will collaborate closely with the finance team and other departments to deliver accurate financial reports and support the company's financial health and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
* Managing the month-end process
* Preparing quarterly VAT returns for review
* Preparing CIS returns through Xero
* Prepare and process sales invoices and other financial documents
* Responsible for credit control
* Assist in the preparation of financial reports
* Assisting with the preparation of the Company cashflow and budgets
* Any other ad hoc accounts and administrative tasks
Qualifications:
* AAT qualified or qualified to this level from experience
* Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
* Proficient with the use of MS Office, particularly Excel
* Experience in the utilities sector would be advantageous
* Experience with Xero accounting software
* A full UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 points

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders
* Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions
* Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
* Ability to work well within a team and support colleagues; be a team player with excellent communication skills
* Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of financial information
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
