Job Description
We are seeking a SMT Machine Operator to join our team! You will help oversee operational activities and ensure excellent quality control.
Job Summary:
The Circuit Board Assembly Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining specialized machinery used in the assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs), including equipment from Yamaha, CSD, Desen, DELV, and HELLER. The operator will ensure that production runs smoothly, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor SMT and PCB assembly equipment from Yamaha, CSD, Desen, DELV, and HELLER to ensure proper placement of components on PCBs.
2. Program and Setup: Load production programs, configure machine settings, and load components according to production requirements and job specifications.
3. Quality Control: Conduct routine visual and automated inspections to ensure PCBs meet specified quality standards. Identify and address any defects or issues in the assembly process.
4. Troubleshooting: Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments on equipment to resolve operational issues and ensure minimal downtime.
5. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular cleaning and preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal machine performance and longevity.
6. Component Management: Ensure that all required materials, such as components and solder paste, are available for production. Organize and track component inventory as needed.
7. Process Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, job information, and downtime logs.
8. Health & Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions while handling PCBs and electronic components.
9. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the engineering and quality control teams to identify process improvements, enhance machine performance, and increase production efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electronics or manufacturing is a plus.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience operating SMT equipment, including Yamaha or similar brands.
3. Familiarity with PCB assembly processes, including surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole techniques.
4. Basic understanding of electronics, components, and schematic diagrams.
5. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical documents, and assembly drawings.
6. Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of machine operation and troubleshooting.
7. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with small, delicate components.
8. Familiarity with quality control and inspection standards for PCB assembly.
9. Ability to lift up to X pounds and stand for long periods during shifts.
Skills:
1. Experience operating and programming SMT and reflow soldering equipment from Yamaha, CSD, Desen, DELV, and HELLER.
2. Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards for PCB assembly.
3. Familiarity with the specific operating software and controls of equipment from CSD, Desen, DELV, Yamaha, and HELLER.
4. Experience with automated optical inspection (AOI) and in-circuit testing (ICT) equipment.
5. Experience with production software, including loading and optimizing machine programs for efficiency.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining high production quality.
7. Basic computer skills for production reporting and equipment programming.
