We are currently recruiting for a Market Applications Engineer to provide technical and pre-sales support for customer accounts, working alongside Sales and Business Development Managers. As the Market Applications Engineer, you would be responsible for both commercial and technical aspects of the product portfolio, as well as manufacturing and engineering as required in order to grow company sales.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Customer Liaison and Sales enablement, acting as a technical consultant to the customer, presentations, RFQ responses, and feedback.
2. Drive identified opportunities (technical consulting, product requirements, design validation, configuration, design, and RFQ response generation).
3. Work with product management to identify pricing and margin models for customer RFQs, bids, and new products.
4. Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.
5. Liaising with product and program management to identify lead times on builds and provide unit forecasting data.
6. Understand and articulate architectures and services to customers, partners, and the internal sales & marketing teams.
7. Keep up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions, products, and services and provide competitive information back to the business.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
1. Knowledge of linear crystal optics, classical optics, glass material properties, and manufacturing would be desirable.
2. Experience in technical design, project management, and relationship management is essential.
3. Understanding of business decisions and experience of costing mechanisms.
4. Knowledge of the RFQ process, and ability to respond to customer RFQ & RFI requests; provide technical sales support.
5. Strong writing & language skills, with the capability of writing customer reports as required, as well as experience in presenting technical data.
6. Engineering (Optics/Electronics/Mechanical/Software), Physics, Materials Science, Mathematics, or Business Degree (or equivalent) would be preferred.
