Fruit pickers are set a daily productivity target, failure to meet that target will result in no further work being offered. This is hard work but can be rewarding for those that can match or exceed the daily productivity target. There are set quality standards for the fruit which need to be met. Working in Polly tunnels can be hot and humid. Workers will need to bring their own refreshments and food to the field. There are welfare facilities available.
Pay is piece rate, i.e. you get paid for what you pick. Payments will be made via PAYE there is no cash in hand alternative.
Hours of work are variable depending on the weather but will generally be between the hours of 5 am to 2 pm Monday to Sunday with one rest day per week. The timing of the rest day will vary depending on the weather and the demands on the business. There are two 30 minute unpaid breaks each day.
