Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support a high-profile pharmaceutical construction project in Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, assessing project risks, and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical packages within budget and timeline constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
* Estimating & Costing: Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for pharmaceutical construction projects, including HVAC, piping, and associated systems.
* Tendering Process: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to develop competitive bids.
* Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and provide cost-effective solutions.
* Supplier & Subcontractor Management: Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
* Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on project scope and budget.
* Value Engineering: Recommend cost-saving measures and innovative solutions without compromising quality or compliance.
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure all estimates comply with pharmaceutical industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Reporting: Provide regular cost updates, forecasts, and financial reports to senior management.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator in pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial construction projects.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, clean rooms, process piping, and utilities in pharmaceutical environments.
* Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software (such as Causeway, Trimble, or equivalent) and strong Excel skills.
* Industry Regulations: Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and other pharmaceutical construction standards.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Communication: Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
* Qualifications: HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field (preferred).
