Desk Adjuster - Agriculture
The Role:
As a desktop handler your role will involve effectively managing a caseload of ARN ( Agricultural) claims, generally valued up to £10,000 but may exceed. These will be a mix of domestic, commercial and agricultural related losses. Your will be the sole owner of the claims, making policy liability decisions, accountable for the indemnity spend and ensuring customer satisfaction, through great service. You will be required to meet all client expectations as well as maintaining and developing support from Agents and Brokers alike. You will receive training, where required. You will form part of a wider team and pull on the experience and knowledge of a bank of loss adjusters. This is an ideal role for someone looking to progress into being on the road as a loss adjuster.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Handling claims from the desk, considering and agreeing policy liability and quantum ( including building repair costs) and being able to demonstrate decision making clearly
2. Reporting to Clients in the required manner
3. Support customers from start to finish of a claim, being their direct point of contact throughout the claims process
4. Make decisions on claims that drive the best outcome for cost control, balancing the needs of the customer and the Clients requirements
5. Use digital visits to drive the best outcomes, where appropriate
6. Agree and closely maintain milestones on the claim
7. Contact the customer regularly, by telephone and keep them advised of claim developments at all stages
8. Liaise with suppliers to drive the claim, reduce elapsed time
9. Identify and highlight fraud and recovery opportunities, as appropriate
10. Work closely with Regional Adjusters to build a relationship with agencies
11. Work closely with peers to ensure a consistent approach to claims handling
Ideally you will have:
12. : An understanding of insurance policies, claims processes, and the technical aspects of property damage assessment. Past claims handling experience is essential. Experience with handling agricultural claims will be an advantage. Progress towards insurance related exams would be beneficial, or a drive to gain future qualification.
13. : Effective communication is crucial for this role as you will need to interact with policyholders, insurance companies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
14. : Strong analytical skills to assess the cause and extent of the loss.
15. : Dealing with property damage claims often involves complex situations and challenges.
16. : Accuracy is crucial in assessing property damage and determining the appropriate compensation.
17. : You will be required to handle multiple claims simultaneously, and as you’ll be planning your own week you must effectively manage your time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines to ensure timely resolution of claims.
18. : You must be able to demonstrate empathy and provide excellent customer service, showing understanding and support throughout the claims process.
19. : You should have strong negotiation skills to reach fair and satisfactory settlements for all parties.
20. : You should maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and adhere to professional standards and codes of conduct.
21. : You should be adaptable and able to quickly adjust your approach to different situations, ensuring effective and efficient claim resolution.
