The Role The Casting Manager plays a pivotal role in bringing stories to life through voice, serving as the critical link between content and performance. This position is responsible for identifying and securing exceptional voice talent across a variety of fiction and non-fiction audio projects. The role combines artistic vision with practical execution, ensuring that each production achieves its creative goals while meeting technical requirements and budget constraints. The casting manager is responsible for negotiating deal points with agents and handles the bulk of talent contracting. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Developing and maintaining a diverse database of voice actors, narrators, and performers across different genres and styles • Reviewing manuscripts and project briefs to determine casting requirements and create detailed character breakdowns • Evaluating voice samples and demos, providing constructive feedback to talent and production teams • Negotiating rates and availability with talent agents and independent performers • Negotiating deal points with agents and acting as the lead on contract discussions • Coordinating with production teams to ensure casting aligns with project timelines and budgets • Staying current with industry trends and emerging talent • Developing, maintaining and managing extensive relationships with talent agencies and individual agents • Ensuring diverse and inclusive casting practices across all projects What does it take? • Knowledge of union regulations and standard industry contracts, with a deep knowledge of equity • Experience in casting, talent management, or a related production role • Proven track record of successful casting for podcasts, audio drama, audiobooks or similar content • Understanding of different narrative styles and voice acting techniques • Experience with casting databases and talent management systems • Knowledge of the audio and podcast industry • Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and operate with others in a diverse team • Interpersonal and communication aptitudes sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts Desirable Criteria • Experience in casting, talent management, or a related production role • Proven track record of successful casting for podcasts, audio drama, audiobooks or similar content • Understanding of different narrative styles and voice acting techniques • Experience with casting databases and talent management systems • Knowledge of the audio and podcast industry • Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and operate with others in a diverse team • Interpersonal and communication aptitudes sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts Package Description Job Reference: 21929 Band: D Contract: Fixed Term Salary pay range: £40,000 - £66,000 Location: London (This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working) We are really proud to share that we are a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer and so if you require any reasonable adjustments in order to apply please do contact us on reasonable.adjustmentsbbc.co.uk with ref: 21929 in the subject.
