St Mary’s University, in partnership with the Royal Ballet and Opera, are looking for a highly skilled and personable Sports Data Scientist to join the Ballet Healthcare team based at The Royal Opera House. The role will be based onsite at the Opera House working 2 days per week as part of a multidisciplinary team. This is a temporary fixed term contract until 31 July 2027.
This project seeks to apply data science techniques and provide invaluable scientific insights to enhance understanding and delivery of interdisciplinary decision-making processes in relation to individual dancer development and progression. This is done by providing accurate timely and evidence-based solutions, identifying key trends and building data models.
In this exciting role, you will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to identify their data needs, ensure the accuracy of all technical, physical and psychological data collected and provide actionable insights for both rehabilitation and performance purposes. In addition to the management and processing of this data, you will also be responsible for the development of The Royal Ballet’s data management systems.
The successful applicant will be highly competent in the use of statistical programming software and experienced in the application of data analysis tools, with the ability to apply this knowledge and skill to athlete management. Able to work with attention to detail, the role holder will be able to see the bigger picture of data management and be able to communicate this information to staff and athletes at all levels. The ability to work collaboratively is essential.
