Specialist Semi Skilled Building Craftsman

DSFS Ltd are looking to recruit hardworking enthusiastic individuals to join our Estates Building team as a specialist semi skilled craftsman to provide a high quality maintenance service to Chesterfield Royal Hospital and our Royal Primary Care (RPC) sites.
You will become part of the team dedicated to the maintenance upkeep of the hospital and RPC sites.
The hours will be 37.5 per week and you will be required to train in order to become part of the out of hours on call rota and may be required to work overtime due to the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job
In your role as a specialist semi skilled you will be required to perform general maintenance duties alongside colleagues and on your own throughout all busy hospital departments being totally professional and mindful of staff, patients and visitors.
You must be able to meet deadlines and liaise and communicate with staff at all levels throughout the organisation.
Applicants should have experience of working in a maintenance environment and demonstrate team working. It would also be desirable to have previous experience in a healthcare or customer orientated setting.
You will be required to perform general building maintenance duties which will include:
* Basic joinery repairs
* Roofing repairs
* Decorating patch/paint repairs
* Fire door PPM and maintenance repairs
* General building repairs such as pointing and plastering
* Lock repairs
* uPVC window and door repairs
You may be required to participate in the on call rota which will include additional payments.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent in maths and English
* Current full driving licence and own transport
* Competency in a building maintenance environment
* Demonstrate previous experience of working in a customer orientated environment
* Demonstrate previous experience of working in a maintenance background
* Demonstrate previous experience of working in a team as a team member
* The ability to follow verbal and written instructions
* Demonstrate the ability to work flexibly to accommodate the needs of our customers
* Demonstrate the ability to communicate with customers in a polite and professional manner
* City and Guilds/NVQ in Building or equivalent experience
* Understanding of C.O.S.H.H. regulations for handling, storage, usage and disposal of chemicals
* Demonstrate experience in a healthcare environment
* Able to use computer/IT systems to log work/jobs etc.
