This is an exciting opportunity for two experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists to join us at HPFT! We have two positions available: part-time and full-time. You will be based in a multi-disciplinary community CAMHS team covering the South quadrant of the county. South Herts CAMHS is a welcoming and developing team that prides itself on providing excellent evidence-based interventions. There are two main sites, one in Watford and one in Borehamwood, and the team works as one team across both locations.
As the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, you will have ACP registration and provide a highly specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy service within the context of the principles of CAPA (The Choice and Partnership Approach) and CYP-IAPT, providing both Core work and Specific/Specialist work, including contributing to the provision of a specific model of evidence-based therapeutic intervention across the CAMHS clinics (for example, Specialist provision of Child Psychotherapy). You will work autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide psychotherapeutic assessments and interventions for children, adolescents, and their families, practicing at a high level of clinical expertise and within relevant Codes of Practice and ethical guidelines, drawing on a wide range of models and techniques.
Main duties of the job
* Formulate a range of treatment options based on an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence (e.g., NICE guidelines).
* Responsible for a substantial caseload of complex assessment, treatment, and consultation work, identifying priorities of action in complex circumstances, providing both Core work and Specific/Specialist work, including the provision of a specific model of evidence-based Psychotherapy intervention across the CAMHS clinics.
* Provide supervision as agreed with the Consultant Lead Child Psychotherapist. The post-holder will undertake research, audit, and evaluation for service development. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Work in ways that are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of families from a wide range of racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, including understanding and offering therapeutic interventions to various family forms.
* Maintain good working relationships with multi-disciplinary colleagues and child therapy colleagues within CAMHS.
* Promote and maintain good working relationships with colleagues in all areas of the quadrant and build strong relationships with clients, their families, and other external agencies as required.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and under the supervision of a more senior Child Psychotherapist, playing an important role in the provision of specialist Child Psychotherapy services.
* Responsible for assessing and treating children, young people, and their families/carers in relation to a range of highly complex emotional, psychological, and behavioral problems.
* Maintain adequate clinical notes and reports for internal use and external agencies, ensuring good communication with referrers and other professionals involved with young people attending the clinic.
Person specification
Training and Experience
* Post-graduate clinical doctorate level (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) (including 2 years pre-clinical masters/diploma level training) in psycho-analytic psychotherapy, accredited by the ACP.
* Evidence of further specialist training and/or supervised experience in treatment techniques or areas of clinical need, and knowledge of management or research.
* Registered with the ACP and eligible for registration with the BPC and/or the PSA (previously CHRE).
Knowledge
* Experience of self-harm assessment and intervention with both individual child/adolescent and their families.
* Knowledge and experience of a range of clinical interventions with children/adolescents, their carers, and professional networks.
* Awareness of current relevant legislation and National Service Frameworks and their implications for clinical practice.
* Awareness of Child Protection Procedures.
* IT Skills.
* Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision.
* Experience of service quality monitoring (e.g., clinical audit, evaluation research, etc.).
* Experience and knowledge of CAPA and CYPIAPT.
